But to no avail on changing the account name on the laptop. I went through the process of adding a new user to this machine, but none of the applications that the "administrator" user appeared. I suspect that the new user must be assigned capabilities to use certain applications. At this point I deleted that user. I have added a screen shot of the control panel and what I have for options. At this point I am beginning to think that changing the name of the laptop account may be less of a value than is being added.
The problem I have always had is I am like a dog with a bone, I probably will not let it go! It seems like it should be a simple solution, but I, also know, that the simplest solutions are not always the easiest to find. Frost account. Details required :. Cancel Submit. Hi SandSF. It seems logical that the User folder name should change with the User Name but for years it wasn't even changeable for some Security reason we were never told, just that it couldn't be done.
Then when Windows 10 started abbreviating the User name to the first five letters of email address if you chose a MS account during install when it couldn't connect to find out your name and only asked for your email address this upset consumers enough that we got them to change it.
